Cadence
Cadence is an iPad app for speech and language therapists working with aphasia. It keeps the recording, transcript and analysis together and produces measures for the clinician to review. Our aim is to complete a session, including checking and corrections, in under an hour.
It exists because the tool many clinics relied on for this work — MARS — is winding down. Cadence is being built to support that work on an iPad.

Keep the recording, transcript and analysis together.
A session starts with an anonymised client reference and a recording. The therapist can correct the transcript, and edits are saved automatically. Cadence then analyses words, phrases, pauses, fluency and story structure.
story grammar
The shape of the story.
Story grammar describes how a story is organised: its setting, what happens, what the characters try to do, and how it ends. Cadence identifies these elements for the therapist to check. The therapist can compare the story-analysis results across sessions.
privacy
Where recordings and transcripts go.
Recordings and transcripts are saved on the iPad. If a clinician chooses an online service for transcription or analysis, Cadence asks them to approve what will be sent and which service will receive it. Local-only mode blocks those transfers.
